I want to go into more detail.

The original picture I posted was a cropped photo, so the quality isn’t as sharp as my other photos. Pics 2 and 3 show close up rear camera photos, 4 shows a rear camera far distance shot, and 5 is a selfie camera shot.

The battery life is also freaking phenomenal on this phone. It last me 12 hours at work, on nights I can play on it all night and still have half a battery when I leave.

The screen quality is fantastic.

The only downside is that it does leave smudges, BUT I have dropped this sucker face down 3 million times and it’s still strong as ever.

No bloatware issues, the phone does come with Mi preinstalled apps, but they’re useful, like the calendar, calculator, there’s a radio app, and it even comes preinstalled with a remote app which is great for people like me who have no idea where their TV remote is, double bonus, my husband’s note 8 doesn’t have an IR blaster.

All in all, I’m glad I took the chance with this phone. I was concerned about the the OS being an Android variant, but it actually runs very very fast and smooth.

No complaints whatsoever. I will update again in the future. I have a small semi circle radiating from the volume down button about a quarter inch out from the edge of the screen to the edge, and it’s about half an inch long.

A second half circle is beginning to form on the volume up contact point in the same manner. So now I have 2 half circle burns on the edge of my screen.

This phone is 4 months old.

It’s never overcharged or overheated, and I don’t know why these contact points are over heating and they felt physically hot when the first one started forming, I could feel it on my phone screen.

I don’t know how to contact Mi, so I’ll adjust my rating if they contact me to sort this out. Otherwise, I’m not so sure I’d recommend this product now if the components are going to start over heating after days of owning.

Final update: The seller I purchased this phone from no longer exists, or changed their name. Xiaomi USA customer service won’t take responsibility for the phone.

The burn in is getting worse on the phone. I’ve owned this phone for 5 months. It has lived it’s price worth, but those of you looking for longevity for your dollar should look for a different phone.

I will be doing just that. February update: I wanted to add one last thing. The burn continues to increase and is covering half the screen a half inch out and 3 inches long down the side of the screen.

It started as one “bubble” and is now up to 7, with the top and bottom currently developing they are a light yellow ring.

If you want a portable movie theater in your pocket, the Blade X Max is worth a look. ZTE is going big.

The only home it’s going to is hopefully yours. The company has trotted out no fewer than seven smartphones with screens measuring 6.

The Blade X Max is outrageously big, and yet ZTE was able to do enough with the design so the size isn’t the only thing you notice.

I like the metallic look to the frame, even though it isn’t actually metal. The back panel is where all the real action is. The plastic material is curved gently from the central axis toward the side edges, meaning the phone is thicker in the middle than it is near the sides.

The glass is somewhat prone to collecting fingerprints, which makes outdoor viewability more difficult than I’d like. Viewing angles are good, though, with minimal change in brightness and color.

I tested it around the New York City area and found it performed on par with other Cricket-branded phones. Bottom line: the X Max performed as quickly as Cricket allows it to.

I didn’t run into any trouble streaming music over the network, but watching YouTube videos via LTE was a bit herky-jerky.

Browsing the web and social media apps was smooth. The phone connected nearly all calls on the first dial and only dropped one during my review period.

The earpiece is neither as clear nor as loud as I want it to be, but it suffices on most occasions. For example, I had no trouble maintaining calls at home and in other quiet spaces, such as an office with a closed door.

I had a harder time hearing calls in public spaces, such as coffee shops and city streets.

Calls in the car were very hard to hear. The speaker was prone to distortion when set all the way up. People said I sounded very far away when I spoke to them via the X Max.

The speakerphone delivers an equivalent performance. It’s average in every way. You’ll find it works well when you’re in private spots, but it suffers when you’re out in the world.

It’s really hard to hear in a moving vehicle. Ringers and alert tones could be better, though they managed to get my attention when necessary.

The result?

A phone that lasts all day and then some. Despite the IMAX-sized screen, the Blade X Max doesn’t need that much power to push it from breakfast to bedtime — and the included battery is enough to get the job done.

I was able to go about my business all day and not worry. I appreciate that.
